ES Compassion Club Spreads Warmth and Kindness

On Saturday, December 14, the elementary Compassion Club, made up of students from second to fifth grade, helped distribute 95 bags of donated hats, gloves, scarves, and socks to the homeless around Seoul Station. The entire elementary had been buying and bringing in winter items for almost a month. On Friday, December 13, during our Compassion Club time after school, our club members went around the school and collected all of the items purchased and brought in by our student body.

Our students worked hard to organize and prepare bundles, ensuring an equal distribution of items to be respectful of those who would be receiving the clothing. On December 14, sixteen students and their parents met at Seoul Station and walked around to find the homeless gathered there. We greeted them, smiled, shook hands, gave hugs, and everyone wished each other a Merry Christmas. Students were surprised and filled with joy when they realized the kindness and gratitude of the homeless people. Some made sure to let us know when we had accidentally passed by someone who had not yet received a bundle.

We were not the only ones to share compassion that day, and it was so satisfying to see many of the people already wearing their new hats as we passed by them on our way home. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible! Your compassion has warmed the hearts and bodies of many this winter.
