ES Parents Meet Homeroom Teachers and Admin

On Wednesday, August 25, the YISS ES leadership team and teachers hosted our virtual Elementary Open House. The event started with a live stream from the elementary leadership team in which they shared a brief personal introduction and information about school events and procedures. The ES administration also talked about Specials offerings for the 2021-22 school year, report cards, virtual learning, and the elementary communication processes. The elementary counselors and chaplain gave an overview of the counseling services and our social-emotional learning program. Mr. Adams, the elementary chaplain, gave an overview of our school ESLRs as well as an overview of the Chapel and Oasis Assemblies.

After the leadership teams presentations, families joined the homeroom teachers for a live session of teacher introduction and a basic curriculum/programmatic overview. Teachers talked about their classroom procedures, instruction, and grading practices. This included a time for teachers to answer any questions parents had. Parents also had the option to watch prerecorded presentations from each of the Specials teachers.

Although we could not welcome parents in person this year, we hope that they felt welcomed and enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about their homeroom teachers and the grade-level curriculum.
