Friendships and Energy Define JV Girls’ Volleyball Season

What makes a season memorable is truly the players on the roster, and this season was exciting, fun, and unpredictable. The JV girls' volleyball team got along with each other really well, and even though a lot of them didn’t know each other at the beginning of the year, they became fast friends, which really impacted how the season went.

I loved hearing about them going out for team lunches and dinners, braiding each other’s hair before games, bringing snacks to share, and singing at the top of their lungs on the bus rides back. The friendships that they have made also showed on the court. They played as a team by encouraging each other during the wins and the losses. After every game, we would huddle to give shout-outs to players who worked hard and shared ways that they could grow as a team.

Although we had some great wins this year, like beating Humphreys and SFS, the part that I am most proud of is how our team would treat each other on and off the court.

We had some amazing leaders and energy-bringers on our team, but two who were recognized at the Fall Sports Banquet were:

  • Spirit Award - Emily Dhong

  • Guardian Award - Amiah Dodrill
