HS Blooms Into a New Season at Banquet

Four years ago, the idea of dancing the night away in fancy attire wouldn’t have evoked much longing. However, fast forward to the year 2023, and it has been years since an official YISS Banquet has taken place. The high school student body is eager for a formal event without any hindrance of plastic shields or social distancing.

The HS Student Council was initially uncertain about where to start planning the HS Banquet. The stakes were high, and no StuCo officer had ever experienced a banquet. However, one thing was certain: this event needed to be magical.

To realize that dream, the student council sought out a venue that looked as if it came straight out of a fairytale. After confirming our contract with Crest 72, we found a DJ to hype up the crowd, a professional photographer to document the event, and brought in DIY photo booths. The support received from the YISS PTO, Communications Team, and staff was invaluable in making this event possible. Thanks to their help, we were able to cultivate progress and actualize our visions.

On the day of the event, students arrived wearing shining gowns, spotless suits, and smiles on their faces. The warmth emanating from the venue enveloped the HS student body, reminiscent of the blooming of a new season. The event was met with resounding approval and excitement from attendees. We had an incredible turnout of 220 people, 60 more than our estimate. It was gratifying to see how well our event was received, and the student council knew that it was our job to make this event the most memorable it could be.

After a delicious buffet, students were able to enjoy the photo-taking stations, participate in a raffle, and play an engaging minigame. Students danced the night away under kaleidoscopic lights as DJ S2 played timeless hits.

The glow in students’ eyes signaled that we were all blooming into a new season of our lives together, and that this moment would become a memory we would carry with us for years to come. As the night came to a close, the student council was proud to have orchestrated an event that would be remembered as a highlight of their high school experiences.
