HS Strengthens Bonds in Day of Friends and Field Activities

On Friday, September 30, 2022, the HS student body came together for the highly-anticipated Field Day. Field Day is an opportunity for students to participate in sports and other activities, show school spirit, and take a break from academic rigor. The HS Student Council (STUCO) worked to incorporate as many student opinions as possible while planning Field Day 2022.

Organization and planning took some effort, but the overall smooth execution of the event made everything worth it.

This was the first field day that involved both individual stations and inter-grade competitions. Students in red, blue, white, and black (based on grade level) mingled together at their stations, playing board games, Family Feud, trivia, and a variety of sports. STUCO was so glad to see the entire high school come together during the last two events of the day, dodgeball and capture the flag, in which every student participated.

As students sang their hearts out to the 2000s hits playing in the gym during dodgeball rounds, it truly felt like the HS student body was a unified community. The event was planned for the entire high school body; so naturally, the planning process involved lots of solution-based thinking, compromises, and flexibility.

STUCO started by sending out surveys to obtain student input on past field days and then oriented activities on the comments received. STUCO also helped to organize supervision and supervise specific events. The P.E. department and the HS administration provided the necessary equipment, which contributed to the event's success.

Field Day is an event that the student body looks forward to every year, not just because of the early release schedule, but also because the event serves as an opportunity for students to partake in various activities and competitions. Naturally, a sense of belonging and school spirit increases as a result of this day.

Overall, we, the HS Student Council, are so glad that the event was received well by the student body, especially with all the planning that went into it. We will use this experience as a springboard to better plan future events. We’ll try our best to make every event the best it can be for all!
