PTO Welcomes New Families

At the start of every school year, the YISS PTO hosts the Newcomers’ Coffee event to welcome new families and help them connect with the community. This year, we had to take this event online, due to restrictions on large group gatherings.

In early-September, all new parents to YISS were invited to a virtual coffee morning on Zoom with their favorite mugs. This four-day virtual event turned out to be great fun with over 60 families getting together. The new families had an opportunity to meet and hear directly from our Headmaster, Chief Academic Officer, divisional principals, assistant principals, counselors, and the chaplain from each division.

PTO Board members and parent representatives from each division also joined the event to welcome new parents and answer questions about campus life at YISS. The event not only allowed school administrators and the PTO board to welcome and get to know the new families but also to share about the PTO's activities and how parents can get involved.

The PTO also shared the Guardian Guide (yis.to/guardian-guide) for recommendations on online shopping vendors, restaurants, bakeries, and more! Thank you PTO President Christine Lee, PTO Hospitality Chair Susie Song, and the rest of the PTO Board for coordinating such a lovely event.
