Chiang Mai Spring Break Trip Creates Lasting Memories

Written by Priscilla Yoon

During spring break, 19 students and three teachers headed to Chiang Mai, Thailand. Our first service experience was at the Forest Restoration Center, where we helped arrange seedlings into bags and learned about nature. Eventually, we headed to the village, where we picked/sorted coffee beans and planted seedlings in large plantation fields. There were challenges, but we adjusted and persevered together. We finished the days by serving at a local school, where we danced, made crafts, and played sports with the children.

Not only did we have the opportunity to serve, but we also had many cultural and enjoyable experiences. Some cultural experiences included visiting an elephant conservatory, a temple, and a night market. Our best memories came from the villagers, the kids, and our fellow guides. My favorite memory was on the last day at the village when the kids and the team spent time together eating Korean snacks, playing with chalk, and braiding each others’ hair. We miss them so much!

The team would like to thank our leaders, Mr. Rey, Mr. Pash, and Ms. Delisle, for the most unforgettable trip ever.
