YISS Players Perform Well in KAIAC Chess Tournament

On November 9, 2019, YISS hosted the 2019 KAIAC Fall Chess tournament. The event drew about 100 players from five international schools. The players ranged from 3rd to 12th grade were grouped into three divisions: elementary, JV, and Varsity.  

The YISS team had 23 members who showed stamina and sportsmanship. We are very proud of their abilities and commitment! Congratulations to the YISS players who won top honors in their divisions: Woosung L. (5D) elementary gold, Timur T. (6) JV silver, and Leon K. (6) JV bronze.  

Hosting a tournament of this size takes weeks of planning and coordinating. Many thanks to our parent volunteers, the YISS Communications Team, Business Office, J&J Catering, and others for their time and efforts in assisting me and supporting the event. There will be two more tournaments this school year on Saturday, February 8 at SIS and Saturday, April 4 at TCIS. We look forward to seeing what our chess team members can accomplish this year!
