YISS Shows Up Strong for Oak Tree Run 2024
The air? It was cool and crisp. The sun? It lent its comforting warmth. The runners? Oh, they were ready! On November 9, the YISS Community showed up strong once again, in support of the Oak Tree Run. Students, parents, and YISS staff proudly donned their Oak Tree Run shirts, ready to create an impact for deserving youth who will benefit from the scholarships funded by the event.
YISS was the largest contingent amongst the participating international schools with a remarkable total of 127 runners across all race categories. The event, which offered 5K, 10K, and 21K races, attracted a diverse group of participants, from seasoned runners to first-timers, all united by the same mission—to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most. YISS’ strong support for the OTR was a testament to the community's commitment to social responsibility and philanthropy.
The Haemaru Soccer Field came alive with anticipation as participants arrived early to stretch and soak in the electric atmosphere. The air was filled with upbeat conversation, high-fives, and the occasional last-minute pep talk from friends and family. Many runners took time to warm up, preparing for the challenge ahead. It was impossible to ignore the strong sense of community that permeated the morning—the YISS runners truly showcased a solidarity that went beyond just completing a race!
With each passing year, the Oak Tree Run continues to grow in both size and impact, granting hope and opportunities to those who need it most. As the Oak Tree Project looks ahead to future events, it remains inspired by the dedication and generosity of all who contribute, whether through their footsteps on the track or their support from the sidelines.
The Oak Tree Run once again succeeded in uniting a diverse community for a common cause. The incredible turnout from YISS was made possible by the generous efforts of the PTO and the Giving Thanks Club. To all the runners, volunteers, and supporters—thank you for making the Oak Tree Run 2024 a success! Your efforts have not only helped raise funds but have also shown the power of community in making the world a better place. The YISS community looks forward to seeing you again next year for another memorable day of giving, running, and inspiring hope!
