YISS Guardian Roundup: November 2024
YISS wants to recognize and celebrate the talent and hard work of our students who excel in activities and competitions that take place at a high level both inside and outside of school. In this edition of the Guardian Roundup, YISS would like to highlight the following students and their recent accomplishments:
Third grader Lianne H. won first place in Rhythmic Gymnastics and third grader Lydia Na-yeon Y. won first place in Freehand of Rhythmic Gymnastics at the LMP Rhythmic Gymnastic Challenge Cup. on July 28.
Third grader Yooan K. won the championship at the Bangkok Fly Ice Hockey Tournament, only four months into starting ice hockey. The competition was held internationally on June 8, with participants from Korea, Hong Kong, China, and Thailand.
Third grader Peter Chanwook K. and fifth grader Joseph Chanmin K. both participated in the international 2024 Euro Science & Math Conference at Tor Vergata University in Rome, Italy. Joseph Chanmin K. received the Judge's Special Honorary Award in the Science presentation category and Bronze medal in the Science Poster Design category after diligently preparing through research and conducting experiments. Peter Chanwook K. received Bronze Medal in the Science Poster Making category for his work and design on the planetary system. Both students received their awards amongst nearly 2,500 other participants.
Sixth grader LeeAnn K. won third place in the Classical Vocal category at the Seoul Young Artists Association competition. The competition was held at the Songpa Junior Center on October 19 and featured 200 other musicians from all over the nation. LeeAnn has been participating as a singer for three years, and it is her second time winning a prize in the competition.
Sixth grader Alen K. won third place in the Boys U12 Doubles Division at the 2024 Sunchang International Junior Tennis held on November 8. The competition featured a total of 409 athletes, U8-U12 boys and girls combined.
